Bashford Jewelry’s online ring builder gives you just 3 easy steps to create that wonderful dream diamond engagement ring for that special someone in your life. Create Your Own Engagement Ring – How It Works in 3 Easy Steps We have made it so easy to design your dream diamond engagement ring online. With just these three simple steps, you can have the ring you’ve always dreamed of delivered right to your door. Step 1. Choose your diamond Choosing the diamond is always exciting. But, before you click on any, just learn about the shapes and the 5 Cs of diamond buying – the cut, carat, clarity, color, and conflict-free. First, you need to decide on the shape of the diamond you want to grace the engagement ring. You have a variety of conflict-free diamond options to suit your style preferences including: Round diamonds Princess cut diamonds Oval shape Cushion Pear Emerald The shape your choose can then be further tailored by the 5 Cs. Now on to the five Cs. Cut: A diamond’s polish, symmetry, and proportions are referred to as the cut. Cut determines the beauty of the diamond. If the diamond is not fashioned properly by the cutter, the balance and brilliance of the diamond can be off. Cut is measured from fair to super ideal. Carat: The weight of the diamond is measured in carats. Sapphire Engagement Rings The value of the diamond increases with carat size. Diamonds are also typically priced per carat. Clarity: Every diamond has a few small imperfections inside (inclusions) or on the surface (blemishes). The fewer the imperfections, the higher the value because the diamond will have a better brilliance. Clarity is graded from the best - FL (flawless) –
to the lowest grade - I3 (inclusions can be seen by the naked eye). You can choose between FL to S12 as we don’t sell I3 graded diamonds at Bashford. Color: Color is used for white diamonds and this is graded from D to J with D being the best quality – colorless. So, the less color in the body of a white diamond, the better the true color will reflect and the higher the value of that diamond. Conflict-free: This refers to diamonds that have not been used to fund rebel wars, human rights abuses, and for us, have not done lasting damage to the environment. As an eco-friendly online jewelry store, we use only conflict-free diamonds sourced from diamond mines in Canada in our rings. Step 2. Select your setting The setting relates to how you want the diamond secured to the ring. For example, the prong setting will give a diamond more prominence while reducing the emphasis on the metal. On the other hand, the halo setting can help to create the illusion of a larger center diamond for a more dramatic effect. You have several settings to choose from: Solitaire Halo Style Pave Channel Set Vintage Non-traditional Bridal-set You can use the ring builder to see how the different diamond shapes will look in the various settings to find the one you like the most. Choose your ring band type/color Choosing the band of your ring is based on the wearer’s preferred styles. You have options from white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, platinum, and palladium. Because Bashford Jewelry is an eco-friendly, ethical jewelry company, we use high-quality, certified recycled precious metals to make the bands of our jewelry. Step 3. We Do the Rest Once you complete your diamond ring, you leave the rest to us to craft a ring sized just for you. While it may look like you’re choosing a readymade ring, what we will be doing is crafting a ring based on your specifications, so that you can present your partner with a unique, ethically-sourced engagement ring. Diamond Grading Report – One thing to note with your online ring purchase Make sure you can get a diamond report. At Bashford, our buyers can opt for diamond reports from any or all of the following grading institutes: Gemological Institute of America (GIA), European Gemological Laboratory (EGL), or American Gem Society (AGS). GIA is a for-profit company while AGS and GIA are non-profit organizations. You should note that these organizations use different grading standards, so the reports will differ.
Plus, you can also get a CanadaMark from Bashford Jewelry report to certify the origin of the diamond to ensure that you are truly getting an ethically-sourced diamond engagement ring.
